Fractions

Parents and Students,

This week we are beginning to learn fractions! Here are some helpful fraction games to practice fraction work at home!

  • Fraction Generator - This website lets you make a fraction circle and easily allows you to change the numerator and the denominator!
  • Fraction Generator and Comparision - This website lets you make fraction circles and helps you compare two fractions side by side!

Division

Parents and Students,

This week we began to learn about division; If your child is struggling with the homework and concepts I strongly encourage you to practice division with things like Cheerios, Fruit Loops, Bissli, coins, paperclips, or any other object that you have with a large quantity. In class we use counters to physically do the division, using similar items at home can be very helpful in understanding division, quotients, and remainders!

Geometry Extra Credit

As discussed in class, students have the opportunity to bring something from their designs to life by engineering. The instructions can be found by clicking on the following link: Geometry Extra Credit. Examples and the quality expected for the extra credit work are below. Most of the examples are Lego creations however, students are highly encouraged to make use of popsicle sticks, shoe boxes, recyclable materials, or other materials.

Ch. 5 Test and Upcoming Project

Parents/Guardians and Students,

Chapter 5 tests have been given back to all students and any student who would like to complete test corrections please follow the test correction policies which can be found in the left-side toolbar as well as worksheets inside the classroom. Test corrections for Chapter 5 are due on Friday, October 28th.

We also have a very fun geometry project coming up! Instructional packets with all of the information needed to complete the project were given out last Thursday however, I have also included all of those papers in the link below. These pages are printable so if the grid paper that was sent home has been used up and you need another copy, you can print one right at home at your convenience!

I'm really looking forward to seeing how creative and imaginative our young architects and engineers can be with their geometry designs! Feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns!
